PhD Students

Our research group specializes in statistical genetics. Student RAs are expected to work on methodological research motivated by important problems in human genetics, and will work on large-scale genetic data for human diseases and traits. Past experience in genetic analysis is NOT required, but a strong interest in genetics is highly valued.

Students in the biomedical data science program are welcome to arrange a lab rotation. We also frequently recruit graduate RAs from the statistics program. Students who are interested in working with us but are currently enrolled in other graduate programs should feel free to contact Qiongshi to discuss. Send your CV and transcript to qlu@biostat.wisc.edu. We can only review applications from students who have been admitted by a graduate program at UW-Madison.

Undergraduate / Master's Students

Please contact Qiongshi to discuss. We welcome student applicants who have rigorous quantitative training. A strong interest in biological and/or social sciences is also critical for your success in the lab. In the past, we have worked with students majoring in mathematics, statsitics, computer science, economics, psychology, and biochemistry. Applicants are also encouraged to reach out to current lab members to better understand the workload and mentoring style. Send your CV and transcript to qlu@biostat.wisc.edu.
